IC-VIS™

Water analysis without letting turbidity get in the way.

Handheld colorimetry for turbid samples.

IC-VIS™ combines standard colorimetric analysis with Instant Clarity™ turbidity compensation, for measurements in challenging liquid samples with less sample preparation.

— Why IC-VIS™

Measure turbid samples without first removing the turbidity.

Turbidity in a sample can add its own optical contribution to a colorimetric reading. IC-VIS™ is designed to compensate for that contribution with Instant Clarity™, reducing how often a turbid sample needs to be filtered or pre-treated for optical reasons alone. Sample preparation required by the chemistry of a specific reagent method may still apply.

— Instant Clarity™

Compensating for the turbidity in a colorimetric reading.

Colorimetric chemistry measures the color response of a reagent. Turbidity can add an unwanted optical contribution on top of that response. IC-VIS™ is designed to compensate for the turbidity contribution, so the chemical response can be measured more reliably in cloudy samples.

— Flexible sample formats

Adapt the optical path to the sample.

Alongside standard 16 mm round, 13 mm round and 10 mm square cuvettes, IC-VIS™ also accepts a 10 mm square-format cuvette with a shorter 3 mm optical path. The shorter path can help extend the usable measurement range for strongly absorbing or higher-concentration samples on suitable methods — moving a method between path lengths still needs method-specific consideration, not an automatic transfer.

— Real application

Industrial and municipal wastewater.

Turbid wastewater discharging into a treatment channel

Reagent-based wastewater parameters are well established, but the measurement is usually tied to a lab bench — and suspended solids in the sample can bias a colorimetric reading. IC-VIS™ pairs the same established reagent-kit chemistry with a portable measurement and Instant Clarity™ turbidity compensation, with methods loaded by QR code.
